Man I was tired this morning! I didn't turn out the light until midnight though, so that's a factor I'm sure. That and maybe an oxy hangover ;) I took the pill because I was beginning to have some pains (I have pain daily now, but not full on attacks (or "attacks")) while we were at the South End Technical Center, but wanted to get home before taking anything because I get so dopey. And dopey I did get!
Spouse went to a nutritionist yesterday. She said his diet and exercise changes have been good (he lost 4 pounds!) and has recommended more brassica to help with his high blood pressure. He's also to eat 3-4 servings of fruit a day. As it happens, I'd picked up a bunch of fruit the other day at the co-op, so we've got a good start on that.
Morning:
banana bread (made with apple sauce instead of oil)
tea with non-fat soy milk
coffee with skim cow milk
water
Lunch:
salad with much less fat-free dressing than yesterday
1 banana
water
Snack:
1 orange

Tuesdaddy
Morning:
grilled fat free cheese and soy bacon sandwich (I thought it tasted pretty good)
tea with non-fat soy milk
coffee with skim cow milk
water
Lunch:
salad with WAY too much fat-free dressing. Next time I'll ask for 1/4 of it (shhesh, dude! You put all the effort into making it, so why not let me taste the veggies)
water
Snack:
1 orange
1 banana
Dinner:
diet Dr Pepper
potato leek soup
grilled cheese and "bacon" sandwich
water
Oxycodone
I had a phone interview for the anesthesia this morning. Afterward they gave me some tips for when I come in, such as to wear loose clothing like sweatpants and a loose shirt that can be pulled up. I don't have any sweatpants I'd wear out of the house, so I took myself shopping for surgery clothes at lunch. While I'm still pissed off that you can't seem to find women's sweat pants with a drawstring waist and NO elastic (we have hips people, we don't need the elastic), I do love the ones I got. Their capri length with a wide waistband and drawstring at waist and cuffs. I got the ginormo size and they're a bit big, but I prefer sweatpants very loose.
Now my one question about this whole clothing thing is; if I had to wear a johnny to have a scope put down my throat, why do I get to wear my own clothes when they're going to make incisions in my abdomen? Perhaps I should have gotten things in pre-blood stained colors.

Monday
Yeah, I've not blogged. And I don't really care. I had 48 hours where the only food I had was a slice of white bread, and that was just to get them to release me from the hospital. Feh. The offending organ is coming out this week though (and I have some goooood drugs to tide me over until then), so I should be back into the swing soon.
Morning:
tea with non-fat soy milk
onion bagel, toasted, with fat free cream cheese and soy bacon
coffee with soy milk (tasted like full fat and was WAY too creamy for what I'm used to now)
water
Loonch (Northern accent):
Vietnamese fresh spring rolls (kind of bland without the peanut sauce)
garden salad, no dressing
water
Snack:
banana
Dinner:
potato leek soup with fat free Greek yoghurt and soy bacon
way too much wine
water

I didn't think I munched that much!
Yesterday I weighed 175.5 and today it's 180. Fuck that shit. But 180 is my target for today, so I'll take it.

Friday
Morning:
tea with low-fat soy milk (ran out of non-fat)
rice
water
coffee with skimmed milk
Lunch
rice with Quorn and peas
water
Afternoon:
Fizzy wine and rice cakes to celebrate birthday at work. My birthday buddy, knowing I can't have fat (and knowing there would be real cake as well since we were doing 3 birthdays), got me buttery caramel and apple cinnamon rice cakes, arranged them nicely, and added a candle. The were quite good and I didn't even miss having real cake!
Dinner:
rice cakes and beer
I've heard this is the dinner of champions.

Back at work
It's easier to get to the health center from here if I manage to get that appointment.
Morning:
2 pieces dry toast
tea with soy milk
water
Lunch:
pineapple
water
Still no word from the health center.
Snack:
rice
water
The doc called me and couldn't get me in to see the surgeon. But she did talk to the surgeon who suggested I go ahead and schedule the surgery rather than waiting until after my appointment next week. So it looks like it's coming out February 1st.

Super Boring Food Tuesday
I got up at 10:30 this morning! Guess I was tired, eh?
Morning:
tea with non-fat soy milk
2 slices dry toast
Lunchies:
rice
water
tea with non-fat soy milk
lumping out in front of British TV
Snack:
whole can of pineapple
tea
Dinner:
Beans on toast
roasted asparagus
tea
water
Spouse went to get his wrists seen to today and they found his blood pressure way too high. As was his weight, which we both knew, but the blood pressure was the big worry. He's got another appointment next week about that and then one with a nutritionist as well. It looks like we're going to be the healthy food couple whether we want it or not now. No fats for me and no sugar for him.
Oh, the wrists are wrapped now and he has an appointment with the specialist lined up. They think it's cysts, not an issue with the break.

Sorry about missing the weekend
I couldn't be bothered. But I did make some DELICIOUS bleef with broccoli and Kung Pow clicken last night for co-op.
Morning:
1 small peach
tea with soy milk
coffee with soy milk
plain low fat yoghurt with banana
water
Lunch:
Avocado and cucumber sushi
small salad with NO dressing
water
Afternoon snack:
toast with honey
water
I had another bilious attack today (and yes, it feels silly to write this when the only person reading it drove me home) while at work. Boss Man drove me to the health center and I narrowly avoided vomiting in his car. The attack was over fairly quickly but it's just making me dread another one.
The doctor who saw me is trying to get me in to the surgical consult a week early just to get this over with. It helps I think that she saw me when I came in to the center and just what kind of condition I was in (I looked *just* like the severe pain face on the "Are You Having Pain" charts). She told me to eat only bland foods and no fats at all (okay, so honey isn't bland, but it's not fatty either) until this is over, but also gave me one neat little trick to try if I have another attack: pineapple. She said it's anecdotal, and that I shouldn't tell the surgeons because they'd think it was crazy, but she's had several patients say that eating pineapple relieves an attack. So I bought five cans on the way home :)
Evening:
plain rice
canned pineapple
water
Really fucking exciting, eh? Tomorrow will be beans on toase as the Heinz beans are fat free.

Lunch:
chili rice and cornbread frozen meal thing

I got my latest blood test results today and everything is back to normal! Woo hoo! I might actually miss the folks at the lab, but not enough to keep going back.
Evening:
Thai noodle soup made by Spouse
blueberry custard and ginger bread
WINE!
And I'm trying fingerwaves. Having someone else make dinner gave me some extra time tonight to shower and do hair before eating. The soup kicked ass too!

New week
Two weeks to go until my goal date. And it looks like I might make my first goal weight! The fruit and veg are a definite help.
Morning:
tea with soy milk
1 orange
coffee with soy milk
1 pear
water
Lunchies:
cauliflower carrot thing (leftover from last night)
spinach and gorgonzola salad with 2T dressing
They give WAY too much and it's not very good. Fortunately, it's in a separate container, so I can add what I want. I need to get some Balsamic vinegar to keep at work for salads.
water
Fresca
Snack:
whole wheat pita with 1 oz brie
Dinner:
cauliflower carrot cheese thing again
Quorn

Saturday
Morning:
tea with soy milk
corn muffins, 3 small
Afternoon:
veggie sushi
1 bottle Citrus C Monster
I bought tons of fruit at the co-op today. I'm going to try to keep to the minimum of 3 fruits and 4 veg a day, but I don't think I'll manage that today the way I've gone so far.
But to help, I also bought a new (old) cookbook. It's Meatless Meals and from what I can tell it's a first edition from 1931 since I don't see any of the known reprint dates (yes, I'm a nerd and looked it up). The nutritional information is, um, interesting. Apparently we need to be careful we don't have too much carbon in our diets. Presumably this means living on rocks and water? And it lists vitamins F (no called essential fatty acids) and G (reclassified as Vitamin B2 or riboflavin).
Dinner:
veggie fajita that had some chicken in it, and Spouse thought tasted like the oil was off (I'll probably puke it up later). With cheese, sour cream and guacamole.
And water.
They took my dish off the bill with no questions and offered me something else, but I'd finished half of it by then and didn't want any more food. I may have fruit for dessert though. Or cake.

Halfway through the first week of the year
Isn't it exciting? Although difficult to make that sound convincing when the year starts mid-week. Ah well.
Stayed home today to nurse my cough. I think bringing the humidity up will help a lot. It's so insanely dry right now.
Morning:
tea with soy milk (lots, and lots of tea)
whole wheat pita with small amount of brie.
Lunch:
Quorn naked cutlet and beans (Heinz English beans)
water
Evening splurge:
chili with cheese and sour cream
cornbread
1 home brew (from a brewer co-worker of Spouse)
ginger bread
water
